 WEB SITE RELATED F.A.Q

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions (with their answers) for the problems you might experience while accessing ExacTax's web site.

Why do I keep getting a pop-up window about an Expired Security Certificate?

Our old web site security (SSL) certificate expired in December, 2003, and we had to create and install a new one. You can delete the old one from your system and install the new one permanently, and then you will not have to re-answer these questions every time you visit our web site in the future.

The method for doing that depends on the web browser you use. If you have any problems with the procedures outlined below, please email us and detail the problem(s) you are experiencing (steps taken, and where and how they failed) and we will find the solution for you.

Internet Explorer

  1. Delete the old certificate (if it exists) by selecting "Start", then "Control Panel", then "Internet Options". Click on the "Content" tab, then on the "Certificates ..." button.
  2. Click on the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" tab. Scroll through the list to look for any entry for "www.exactax.com".
  3. If you find one, highlight it by clicking once on it, then click on the "Remove" button and then "Yes" as many times as required to delete our old certificate.
  4. Then click on "Close" and "OK" to close the Control Panel.
  5. Install the new certificate by starting Internet Explorer and visiting http://www.exactax.com.
  6. At the "Security Alert" popup window, select "View Certificate".
  7. Click on the "Install Certificate ..." button.
  8. Click on "Next", then "Next" again, and finally on "Finish".
  9. Then click on "Yes" on the new popup window. A smaller popup window telling you of the success of the import will appear, click on "OK" then on "OK" again.
  10. Then click on "Yes" as many times as required to load our site (probably 3 or 4 times).
  11. The popups will disappear and return you to our web site, and you will never have to answer the question again till our certificate expires (Dec. 12, 2013).

Netscape Navigator / Mozila

  3. Click once on the word "Certificates" to highlight it, then click on the "Manage Certificates" button.
  4. Click on the "Authorities" tab.
  5. Find the listing for "ExacTax, Inc." and click once on the entry right below it called "www.exactax.com" to highlight it.

  7. Install the new certificate by visiting http://www.exactax.com.
  8. At the popup window, click on the "Accept this certificate permanently" radio button, then on "OK".
  9. The popups will disappear and return you to our web site, and you will never have to answer the question again till our certificate expires (Dec. 12, 2013).
